Exclusivity for Golem Dancers-May 2023: La Chanson du Forcat
For this version, the great Australian singer/songwriter, Inga Liljestrom (https://www.ingaliljestrom.com/) lent us her amazing voice and the track has been masterised by the one and only Loki from Spooky Records (a full remix version by Loki will appear on our next album).
This is the only song we ever did in French and strangely enough it led to a different approach in how we -usually- apply sonic tapestries to shape the sound of the song (the “Golemization Process”).
For any band, it seems, there are two ways to approach a cover song: you can be super faithful to the original or make it your own. We cannot say if we succeeded in the later, (Let us know?) but we definitely did not follow the arrangement of the original, only the guitar track (in our version, the bass track) and the lyrics are lifted from the original. As per the lyrics, when we recorded the basic track for the song, we were still feeling pretty “raw” from the C21 lockdown so the lyrics were definitely catching a Zeitgeist
